Dr Khong graduated with first class honours from the University of NSW. During his training, he undertook a research year at the Kolling Institute of Medical Research studying the “Molecular Heterogeneity of High Grade Gliomas”, and received the inaugural Avant Doctor in Training Research Scholarship and the Hubert Stuerzl Memorial Educational award.

Dr Khong was awarded his fellowship in Neurosurgery in early 2016.

In 2016, Dr Khong undertook a combined orthopaedic and neurosurgery spine fellowship at Prince of Wales hospital. He trained in both open and minimally invasive techniques, and dealt with a wide range of pathologies including :-

  • Degenerative spinal conditions

  • Spine trauma

  • Spine tumours

  • Deformity

In 2017, he went on to complete a cerebrovascular and skull base fellowship at Toronto Western Hospital, Canada. He acquired comprehensive training in the treatment of cerebrovascular pathologies including :-

  • Aneurysms

  • Arteriovenous malformations

  • Dural arteriovenous fistulas

  • Cavernomas

  • Carotid stenoses

Dr Khong also attained extensive experience in the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia and hemifacial spasm through percutaneous rhizotomy and microvascular decompression.
